JANPS2012 JAPAN NEWSPAPER PRODUCTION SHOW

Nihon Shinbun Kyokai (The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association) will hold the Japan Newspaper Production Show (JANPS 2012) at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Site) in the Ariake area of Tokyo for three days, starting on November 27. The event is held in cooperation with the Conference for Newspaper Production Technique-Japan (CONPT).

Begun in 1972, JANPS is an exhibition specializing in newspaper production technology. The event showcases state-of-the-art equipment and technology for innovative newspaper production, covering automation, faster printing, labor saving, improved quality and more.

This year’s overall theme is “Reading and Watching Bring News, Newspaper Technology Innovates News.”

The surge of computerization in print media has also reached the newspaper industry, and electronic media launched by newspaper publishers are meeting the needs of society and discovering new readers. Also, at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, which caused unprecedented damage and loss, the power of newspapers as a print medium was acknowledged again, and the value of newspaper journalism was demonstrated afresh.

JANPS gathers together the latest newspaper production technology, attracting participants from newspaper publishers and printing firms nationwide as well as visitors from abroad.
You are invited to this event to witness tomorrow’s newspaper production technology today.

We are preparing the following events for foreign visitors to the Japan Newspaper Production Show (JANPS 2012).

・Overview of JANPS 2012
At the site’s seminar corner, we will provide an overview of JANPS 2012 (English/ 30 minutes).

・Tour of the JANPS 2012 site
We will escort foreign visitors to all of the site’s booths (English/ 90 minutes).

・Tour of a newspaper printing plant
We will visit a nearby newspaper printing plant that boasts the latest technological advances. Bus transportation to the plant will be provided (English/ 90 minutes).
